I arranged my morning in such a way that by the time I'd done everything I
had to do I was so near the new Leica Store in London that it would have
been foolish not to drop in...

What a fool I was to do that!

I played with an S2 and an M9 and now I have to win the lottery, or start
mugging rich old ladies.

The S2 is a beautiful camera with a lovely minimalist design. A perfect fit
for my hand, surprisingly light for its size, but still exuding pure
quality. Very well balanced with a 70mm lens. I'll never be able to afford
one, so there's no point in thinking about it.

The M9 is what the M8 should have been. The little annoyances seem to have
been fixed, it's 5g lighter than the M8 but I thought that was noticeable.
It's quieter, the shutter release is better, doesn't need the IR filters,
35mm-sized frame, better in low light. Lovely camera. I have to find
sh*tloads of money now... I wish I smoked so I could give up and use the
money to buy the camera.

I shot 16 frames with it on my own SD card but don't have time to process
them today. Will post some this weekend to get an idea of quality.

The Leica Store is great. It's intended as a showcase rather than for
selling - they don't want to compete with their dealers. The idea is to let
people come in and play with the toys. That, of course, is a sucker punch.
Once you've played with them you don't want to give them back.
