I've been to 31 official US National Parks. Probably double that if

true with me for Canada and Monuments too.

I find it mildly puzzling how concentrated the parks are in the
western half of the US. Maybe because land was not already gobbled up
for other uses. Maybe because it was considered such a pristine and
alien landscape compared to other more settled areas.

I'd really like to go back to Denali and Wrangell-St. Elias in Alaska,
and the one I'd most like to visit that I've not been to is Hawaii
Volcanoes. I've always wanted to shoot a picture of a lava spewing
volcano with stars as a backdrop.

I love them both... but no wish at all to go to Hawaii as one has to fly to get there.

Errr.... none.... I have only visited the States once... and I don't think
Austin Convention Centre is in a national park :-) I do however live

Are any of you guys watching Ken Burns's thing on the National parks?
I'm liking it more and more
but thought the first show was the weakest and may have put people off the
series...

And relative to that, how many National Parks have you been to? Possibly
some from the other side of the Pond
have more on their list than some of us who live here...

I checked off 40 of the reported 58 though I think there might be more
that I visited before they were made into parks.
(Great Basin, for one)
