Thanks. I'm working towards purchasing this lens. It seems to be the
fastest, widest, rectilinear option for the Pentax mount. (I've been
waiting for the allegedly Pentax co-designed Tokina 11-16mm f2.8 to be
released as a DA, but it apparently is never going to happen.)

I don't understand why Pentax would contractually make Tokina not
offer it in a Pentax mount if they never planned to actually release
it under their own brand name. The only possible explanation I can
think of is that it would steal sales from the 12-24mm DA lens, but
that is a MUCH slower lens.
