John, I've used several sets of Delkin rechargeable CR-3Vs in my *ist-D and grip with no problems other than a relatively low number of shots per charge (150-250).

I bought the Delkin rechargeable CR-3Vs for my istDS and found the same problem. VERY low number of shots before they'd die. Super long recharge time, and (much to my surprise) terrible shelf-life of the batteries. Truly my most miserable battery experience ever, and the biggest waste of money I've ever dropped on anything photography- related.

I went back to standard NiMh batteries until I was turned on to Eneloops. Battery nirvana. Simple, effective, perfect. Now I know there is someone on this list (still? My email filters have kept me blissfully ignorant) who will tell me that Eneloops didn't work, couldn't work, won't work. But I'm not measuring anything, I'm just USING them and they're great. :-)
