That's basically what sits underneath the flimsy plastic turntable
case that ION sells. I'm sure it will do the job, and eliminates the
crappy turntable from the equation. But at that price point, it's
probably not a very good A to D converter. I'm attuned to that $2500
two tube job I mentioned earlier, which is superb. Note that none of
this gear is mine, but when the owner upgraded from his $1500 single
tube D-A converter to the higher priced one, I could tell the
difference.
The ION would work for Ann's and Dave's and my old ears, in a
pinch. :-)
