        When the camera support is not sturdy, this is not true.  I tend to run
into it when doing "tripod" shots without my tripod by setting the camera on
my backpack, gloves, etc.  Pressing the shutter release button alters this
enough to sometimes ruin the picture.

        Yes, anytime you need an instant release while on a 'pod, then that's the
time for a cable release.  When will you need that?  How about when shooting
moving shubejcts, like outdoor flower macros or birds?  Other times are when
the camera is pointed at a funny angle and the shutter button is difficult
to reach -- and that's sometimes even a case for using mirror prefire _with_
a cable release.

        Not at those prices :-(  They just (intentionally) won't sell many.
