I feel your pain. Back in 2006, i was sitting in a plastic chair on the dock at the hunt camp. The back leg cracked and i fell back wards, with my FA 70-200 and istD in hand. As with you, my instincts kicked in and o out my hand out, which happened to be the one with the camera gear in it. Pentax was able to fix the lens and camera, i was suprised.
