The light is  quite a bit above the camera, pretty much a simulation of late 
afternoon sunlight. There's a backlight, but probably only one light at camera. 
What's interesting is the hard detail and precise exposure. These aren't 
portraits meant to flatter. Rather, they're personality studies.
