Since we were just recently talking about Indian people in our own countries
I thought I'd pass this on.

I have just noticed that the notebook I've been writing in for the last
couple of days is the one I used when I travelled in India a few years ago.
Flipping through the pages I found some notes of a conversation with a
talkative ticket inspector on one of the trains.

After the usual preliminaries he asked

"There are no paddy fields in London?".

"None", I said.

"So. Only wheat then".

"Er. Yes".

"You eat beef in London?"

"Yes"

"And camel?"

"Not very often"

"You know, many Indian people are looters"

And a t-shirt whose message seemed to me to sum up all the ancient wisdom of
the orient. It said

"Love is fast
Life a vest"

Can't argue with that.
