You're right. _The Print_, page 84.

He used it to dry test prints in the middle of a session. The highlight
tones of some papers look lighter when wet than they do when dry, an effect
called dry-down. He used the microwave as a quick method of confirming
highlight tonality after dry-down.

It's a useful technique. I've done it for years. However, I don't dry final
prints in the microwave. Neither did Ansel.
