I was shooting with the A50mm f1.7, so I didn't have to get that close - she was maybe 4 or 5 feet way. I focused manually, pointed at her and she didn't seem to notice, so I snapped. Sometimes they notice (as you can see in my Bovine Sex Club GESO that I just posted) sometimes they don't (like the two barmaids); either way the photo can be interesting. I guess I just try to look natural, always keep the camera out in the open (so it's no big deal when I put it up to my face) and don't make any sudden movements. After I take a shot or two, I calmly put the camera down as if nothing happened. Surprising how often I'm ~not~ noticed.
