It _used_ to be that every CDR blank manufactured was made in one of several plants, then just resold by someone else. I'm not sure if that's true or not, anymore, but it wouldn't surprise me. Why make your own when someone else is already doing it, doing it cheaper than you can, and someone'll still buy it because it comes in a yellow box. :) The other thing I remember is that a bigger issue was made about the dye colour and teh surface colour of the blank.
