I wouldn't worry, it's pretty rare, less than 1% fail, in fact it's
probably just your imagination, have you cleaned the contacts, maybe
you should just work the focus ring every time before you expect to
AF? Screw SDM (no sorry screw worked)!

I hope you can get it fixed (assuming it's out of warranty) without
having to sell a puppy to pay for it.


Oh yes, it's still under warranty. I bought it last summer.
And yes, I cleaned the contacts, etc.
1% fail is a very high number actually.
