Question for William Robb - What is the function of the building it was
sitting next to?
That building is the back of the warehouse where I (and a whole bunch of
other people) have storage/workshops.
The machine came out of a photolab in Tom C's neck of the woods and was
brought to Regina by the guy who I do studio stuff with.
He had bought a Noritsu 3011 lab from a drug store, and this is the
processor that came with it.
I had always intended to get it running, but it had a vert bad scratch
problem which I didn't ever seem to find the time to track down, and as in
the two years i worked there we only turned away 3 rolls of fim processing,
it wasn't really a high priority thing.
Kim moved the machine out about a year ago into his shop area. I don't know
if his intention was ever to do anything with it, but he must have felt it's
time had come, because when I got to the shop on Wednesday, he had it beside
the dumpster and was waiting for a few angry young men to hoist it onto his
truck so that he could take it to the landfill.
The big box stores send old equipment like this back to the vendor where
they are rebuilt and sold into less developed parts of the world where
digital hasn't made the inroads it's made in the first and second world
countries.
Or at least, they used to. This may have changed.
