You'll probably get some wonky shadow gradation with the wrong black. However, there are icc profiles for some matte papers that enable photo black ink. I generally run photo black for my Ilford Silk Fibre and Epson Exhibition Fibre. Today, I had to print on double-sided matte, which normally calls for black matte ink.
