When I arrived home today I found a leaflet from the Environment Agency on the doormat telling me, and I quote, "Floods Operate In Your Area". Operate? Floods don't operate anywhere. Who do they get to write this crap? Or should that be 'Whom do they get...'? If they want me to protect my home and all my property from flooding, they'd better start sending me leaflets that are written properly, otherwise I'm just going to let all the water in, and that'll learn them. I suspect it was written by the same idiot who wrote the announcement they often play over the tannoy on the tube, telling me that 'Delays are operating to all destinations'. No they're not! Delays don't operate any more than floods do! And another thing, while I'm at it. What about the announcements on the buses? "Bus stopping at next bus stop. Please stand well clear of doors". What is this, Russian? Have we run out of definite articles? THE bus IS stopping at THE next bus stop. Please stand well clear of THE doors. Apart from that, I've had quite a nice day off thank you. -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
