Here are some of the things that I've learned about printing at Costco with lightroom:

(thanks Paul)
You can find an icc profile for your local Costco on line. Try here:

If you just upload a photo costco will crop it so that it fills the frame rather than prints all of the photo. The way I found to prevent that is to use the print menu and set up the page configuration for the right sized paper and let lightroom add the requisite borders.

I started out with .25" of border which proves to be way too much for 4x6 prints. Next, I'll try 0.1 or maybe 0.05"

There is no advantage to printing 8x10, they'll print it on 8x12 and won't even center the print, and 8x10 and 8x12 cost the same.

Lightroom print module will write the jpeg files to a directory and name all of the files based on that directory. Unfortunately, the original filename is lost, so even though costco will print the filename on the back, it does little good for tracking down the original raw file. Unfortunately lightroom export print won't add the borders. I think that you can go and wrestle with the cropping on the costco site if you export the files.

Lenz, the local art store, has this 9x12 portfolio for about $10 which is good for 48 8x12 prints:

Anybody else have good hints or suggestions for printing?
