That's all right, I keep getting solicitations as a Science Reseacher/Librarian, I needless to say have no experience in the field of Library science except for a stint shelving Government Publications as a Graduate student for extra money, and haven't had a formal association with being a scientist since I was a sophomore in College and decided Economics was a lot easier than Biochemistry.

I'd be careful Dave - if they google you and find this post including
the 1972 Seneca comment and their consultant's direct number, they may
not be too amused.

It does say if i know of anyone that would be interested, so i passed it on.;-)

BTW this was a totally unsolicited email. I have no, repeat no
knowledge of programming, trading etc. I am also NOT lead hand
material for sure.

I had no idea that my Fortran IV classes at Seneca back in 1972, would
lead to this dramatic job offer.

Who needs a bus license now, eh.,

David,

I had come across your details this morning by way of kx.com. I am a
recruiter with the Hagan-Ricci Group, a 20 year old executive search firm
that works exclusively with the leading automated trading shops in the
industry. We have helped build many of the most prestigious teams in this
business. One of my top clients is a well-known high frequency trading
group in Chicago. They are in desperate need for someone with top-notch KDB
expertise, so I thought I should bring it to your attention.

Please let me know if you, or anyone you know, would be interested in
learning more about the following opportunity:

The Senior KDB Support Administrator will satisfy the Trading, Quantitative
and Quantitative Research teams' demand for new KDB functionality by writing
q scripts and applications and providing support of existing KDB
applications. Another major responsibility will the Data Cleaning of KDB
Time Series, development of sanity checks, filters and adaptive data
cleaning algorithms. Our KDB includes real-time and historical data used
across the entire firm and across a wide range of asset classes.

The Senior KDB Support Administrator will develop functions that provide
access to KDB from various development platforms, including python and C++.
He/She will actively participate in troubleshooting day-to-day problems with
data quality and data flow. Other responsibilities will include managing
the KDB time series repository and associated q library, developing tools to
monitor the data acquisition integrity and the data quality and maintaining
Sun’s time series database and associated q libraries.

The ideal candidate will have:

-At least 3 years of experience with the KDB database

-Proficiency in Q programming language (q-god level)

-Knowledge of scripting language, preferably Perl and Python

-SQL and data modeling skills

-A strong background in financial markets, financial products and historical
market data.

If you’re open to other opportunities in general, let me know. We’ve got a
lot going on and I’d be happy to discuss further.

Thanks,

Ben Beardslee
