I did not suggest that there was a need to use exactly the same mount, or
maintain the same lens-flange-register, but simply that they should have,
IMO, maintained compatibility.  Surely this could have been done
electronically, particularly if you intend to charge GBP99 for what amounts
to a dumb adaptor.

Because an adapter is in order due to different register distance, whichever

the mount you use.
Given that, use an appropriate mount instead of one born in the 70's.
