Larry, It's a very nice lens, and well built too. Some people complain about the lack of intermediate steps between full stop apertures, but I think I only ever shot mine wide open so it wasn't an issue. If I want half stops, I'll use the FA 50mm.
I had to sell mine recently because I couldn't justify keeping it after I bought the SMC-A version. Snif. It's a great pub lens that let me take pictures in available darkness with my K10D. I can only imagine what it could do on a K-x! In case anyone wants samples, here are some shots I have hanging around the web. I think all of them were shot wide open at f/1.2, and apart from the last one in the pub series, they were all hand-held: Pub: http://lh4.ggpht.com/Miserere/SP1U4StRHeI/AAAAAAAABrg/Vthl6szbqvk/s800/IMGP0345-small.jpg http://lh4.ggpht.com/Miserere/SP1U3Ik6lTI/AAAAAAAABrA/XBLIMplJLv0/s800/IMGP0313-small.jpg http://lh6.ggpht.com/Miserere/SP1U3qZmR2I/AAAAAAAABrQ/16xtYMoCqmw/s800/IMGP0329-small.jpg http://lh6.ggpht.com/Miserere/SP1U4Kqk2dI/AAAAAAAABrY/hxI0bRv5Rmw/s800/IMGP0339-small.jpg http://lh5.ggpht.com/Miserere/SP1U3q_hU5I/AAAAAAAABrI/nzY4Cl0rqwA/s800/IMGP0327-small.jpg Cute kid: http://lh3.ggpht.com/_i6tc3TCyOTA/SoKn5SiX6lI/AAAAAAAACgU/3x2M2X1PITQ/s800/Naya%20-%20Jan%202009%2011%20small.jpg http://lh6.ggpht.com/_i6tc3TCyOTA/SoKoPBAnbcI/AAAAAAAACiM/qUn2LmHFeZo/s800/Naya%20-%20Jan%202009%2040%20small.jpg http://lh5.ggpht.com/_i6tc3TCyOTA/SoKnqrOARkI/AAAAAAAACfk/p44LSLD2NE0/s800/Naya%20-%20Jan%202009%2000%20small.jpg There's a mega-thread on PF if anyone wants to read more about the lens and see further samples: http://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-slr-lens-discussion/41357-cosina-55mm-1-1-2-club.html Cheers, --M. -- http://EnticingTheLight.com A Quest for Photographic Enlightenment On 3 March 2010 14:16, Larry Colen <[email protected]> wrote: > I played with Sasha's 55/1.2 last night at a friend's weekly blues jam. > > I shot almost entirely wide open.
