Both the tight comp and narrow dof were rather forced upon me by the situation. It was a crowded living room at a party, rather dark, so the only lens I had that was useful in that situation was my A f1.7 50mm. I had no choice but to shoot wide open, and my vantage point was such that I had to compose that tight. I'm glad you thought it all worked.
