Here are my shots from Friday Night Blues last night. http://www.flickr.com/photos/ellarsee/sets/72157623444325593/
They represent about a 1:10 keeper ratio, my first night using the camera for dancing, my first night using the 55/1.2 lens for dancing, and about my third or fourth using the sigma 10/1.8 for dancing.
The last few shots are a bit rough. They were shot hand held, no monopod, ISO 6400, 1/8sec f/1.8 where it was probably too dark to read newsprint, and the camera still got usable photos.
On any level, I'm impressed with what this camera can do. When I consider that it is an "entry level", "bottom of the line" DSLR, I'm gobsmacked. Bear in mind that this gallery represents action shots. The subjects aren't always moving fast, but they are moving.
The critical path is now focusing. I moved the katzeye from my K100 to the K-x and it really helps with the manual focus. The two lenses I used are very challenging to focus, the 20/1.8 because it has such a wide DoF and fast focusing, it's tough to see, and the 55/1.2 because it has such a narrow depth of field. I need to try again with the 31/1.8.
The K-x reminds me a lot of my NAD 3020 preamp, in that it is a piece of equipment that in many ways performs so far beyond it's price range that it's hard to believe.
I think that it may sell better to experienced photographers, who will appreciate the performance, than it will to entry level photographers.
