While this pitiful person is no more than a cypher, the Law does not accept ignorance as an excuse. Wouldn't it be sweet if he were prosecutable for his blatant attempt at industrial sabotage. (I'm going back into my trance now)

With the number of laws that are now on the books, can anyone legitimately argue that knowing all the laws is possible? This is moving somewhat into OT of an already OT topic, but I had this conversation with a couple of the lawyers in my wife's office a while back.
I asked how many laws there were.
They both got a kind of deer in the headlights look, and asked me to define my question. I clarified by saying that to live where I live, I need to know Canadian criminal and civil law, the laws of the province I live in, the laws of the RM surrounding the city I live in, plus civic statutes, as well as the highway traffic act plus any provincial and city traffic bylaws. This doesn't take into account the possibility that I might travel or missed something. When phrased that way, they couldn't give an answer, but figured it was definitely in excess of 20,000 laws, with the target moving every day.
I doubt very strongly that anyone knows all the laws.
Ignorance of the law is now a reality, and could certainly be used as an excuse.
