I don't see the point, personally. I don't think filter coffee tastes as good as coffee made in a French Press (such as a Bodum), and it's no easier to make. The biggest contribution to coffee taste is freshness. Whole beans will keep for a while in an airtight container, especially in the freezer (right next to the box of film :-), although the less time between roasting and brewing the better the coffee can be. Ground coffee doesn't keep anywhwere near as well, so I try to grind beans only as needed.
