I remember when I was planning my first SLR purchase in the early '70's, and screw vs. bayonet was a real decision - you know, back when screw-heads weren't a bunch of whacko anachrophiles. Anyway, the salesman told me that one of the real disadvantages of screwmount was that you could strip the threads by cross-threading.
I decided on a Praktica (couldn't afford a Spottie), and I've been using screwmount exclusively ever since (until my recent blasphemous conversion to k-mount). In 30 years, I've never stripped a lens or body. Or even come close. And that includes changing lenses in the dark, and under the influence of all manner of mind-altering substances. Has it ever actually happened to anyone? Just curious. regards, frank Len Paris wrote: > Cross-threaded in poor light, perhaps, but always recoverable. > > Len > --- > > > This is another reason I love my spotmatics.
