Thanks for the comments and suggestions! I tried various crops, including Frank's suggestion of getting rid of most of the closest pillar; but I kinda like the way the yellow box on the pillar and the yellow platform edge interact.
I won't have a chance to post other crops until tomorrow evening. I'll try a monochrome rendering too, but I suspect there are too many mid-tones.
