Is that why most art directors have cut up fingers? ;-) I do that too, actually, for some one-off bits but the Rototrim is more consistent when you're trying to cut a dozen prints to exactly the same dimensions. Lock down a guide for cut one, make all twelve, lock down a guide for cut two, make all twelve, etc.
