It's a beautifully shot picture - lovely light, colour and texture. The big problem for me is what Ann mentioned about the chin. The male is too low in the frame and the composition is unbalanced. I wish it wasn't.
I can't comment on the changing of the colour because I didn't really notice. However, they do have green grass in Africa you know. It's what the wildebeest and the zebras eat, so it makes sense for the lions to wait there.
