Subject: Third party screen question

Hi Team,

So for those of you that have pushed a third party screen with manual
focus aids into service on a modern DSLR what are the drawbacks?

I'm over trying to guess the focus when I use my A50/1.2 on my K-x

I haven't found any drawbacks yet, other than financial.
Katz Eye screens are not cheap, and for the K7, I had to pick up a set of shims from Pentax.
The shims are cheap enough though.

Anyone installing a Katz eye into a K7, don't bother buying a full shim set. Odds are you will be using either a .20 or .25mm shim. And, Pentax Canada didn't pack mine very well and some of them came to me warped, which was a PITA.
