Hi Shel, I have the LS-1000 as my only neg scanner. I find it a very capable unit, if a lttile slow by today's standards. 2700dpi optical is nothing to sniff at, and will easily give 25 MB files sizes (colour) from 35mm frames. The neg holder is a bit fiddly, but at least most of it is metal and seemingly hard-wearing. I'm very pleased with it and it hasn't let me down once.
I use a Silverfast plug-in in Photoshop. I found it necessary to print out the manual at first to get to grips with it, but now it's second-nature. I can't think of a better entry-level scanner to get you up to speed on the subject. HTH Cotty >I've a chance to get a well-maintained Nikon LS 1000 scanner at a >reasonable price. It's offered at $300.00, which seems fair, although not the >world beater bargain. _______________________________________________________ Personal email traffic to [EMAIL PROTECTED] MacAds traffic to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Check out the UK Macintosh ads http://www.macads.co.uk - This message is from the Pentax-Discuss Mail List.
