To Leon specifically and all others getting things mailed from Germany, beware:

I just learned the hard way that DHL, the former federal postal
service of Germany hasn't quite emerged from the middle ages yet. If
you want to be sure your goods are put on a plane, don't get parcel or
insured parcel service (Päckchen or Päckchen/Nachweis), get package
(Paket). Or find another carrier with more transparent terms...

All it says in the Päckchen service description is "no guaranteed
duration of transport". It doesn't say "not always by air" or "not
necessarily this month". Or in their hotline's words: "If we don't
have enough room left on a plane after loading the more expensive
services, some parcels may get put on a ship rather than the next
flight. You'll have to wait another 1-3 weeks for the parcel before
claiming shipment loss insurance".

Aaaargh!

I also want to apologize coram publico to John and Darren for not
having realized this.

Cheers
Ecke
