Jack, this is really intriguing, but the light was not your friend. The bright sky and reflective sunny grass overwhelm the subjects. A different time of day, a cloudy day, or a polarizer might help. I am also curious about the truck, and maybe if you used a wide angle lens to get closer to the truck and show more of it with the barn in the background it would scratch that itch.
