If something bad happens to those lenses, I'll kick myself, but I could afford to repair or replace the lens if I had to. For my DA* 300/4, I keep a Hoya HMC Super UV filter on it. Paying for that lens once was hard enough. The lens performance is excellent with the filter, and I have not been able to detect any difference in optical quality with it on or off.
