Yes, that was the style of "new" diners a while back, but retro is in now.

The Millburn Diner is in Short Hills, a very affluent suburb of New
Jersey populated mostly by people who work in New York City, many on
Wall Street.  It is also a downtown diner, and near the local regional
theater.

The new Diner that was built in my town in 1999 is on the highway, and
is quite different in style:
