Now that you mention it, I recall reading or hearing somewhere that
floating branches (in air, not water) are to be avoided, and guess I
see your point.

OTOH, it's my picture, and I can do whatever I want to it!  ;-)

Seriously, I do like them for balance, but I'll have to try cropping
them out to have a look-see;  I ~do~ try to be open-minded once in a
while.
