Well, that's going to be WAY OffTopic ;) Nevertheless...

The Pilsen beer is probably quite renown, although, it is now made by
a huge multinational concern. Problem with those big breweries is that
they have to sell LOTS of beer, it's like P&S cameras ;) They want
their stuff to be not have too much personality, or only a minority of
people would like it. To have most people buy it, the taste must not
be nice to all the people, and with all the people having different
tastes, it must be the least offending to the most majority...

Nothing against these beers, though, but it's like cameras - I like my
cameras have a distinct personality ;) From the big makers - Pilsen is
very good. So is Budvar (Budweiser). Stay away from Staropramen,
although many like it <g>. Krusovice is very good too.

But I would recommend going for the small breweries, some
family-owned (although the Big Bad Boys use to buy out a small brewery
and shut it down, just for "free trade"'s sake).
From these - and many can be had in Prague - from the more smoother
blends like Litovel (Moravian family owned), Svijany (the black, 13
degree, is really good), to the refreshing sourness (?) likes of
Bernard, Cerna Hora, and others. Konrad is good too.
Some of the small ones even let you specify a taste and make a batch
of say 50-100 litres entirely for you only!

Unfortunately, with the big money of the big companies, lots of these
small breweries, which sprang from nothingness of 40 years of
communist rule of one party, one brewery, one ... <g>, are
disappearing, either bought out by the big multinationals or lacking
funds for out-advertising the big ones ;-( It's a big pity, as any
diversity is great. With the fusions of the big breweries, we will
soon have only few brands to choose from, made by same company in
disguise of few smaller, "independent" ones. Or perhaps Foster's will
take over, phew! (Australian members, please take no offence, but...)

Enough of beer, let's talk about wine! Any Magyar members, what about
 Tokaj? ;-)

Good light (after a long night),
