Tjena, Peter. Since you live in Uppsala, you're pretty close to the Swedish Pentax head office. Is it an option to take the camera there and have it looked at?
I'm not at all surprised that your seller can't see the batch number. I remember first time I mentioned it on the List; there were people who thought I was kidding...:-) I don't think there's any way to distiguish the LX vintages after 1987 by its exterior. Btw, my LX is old. it's batch number says it's made in October 1980. I have had it for two and a half years, and it hasn't let me down once. Not even in 25 deg. minus, last winter at R�ros. If the price is right, I wouldn't hesitate to buy whatever vintage it is. Those cameras are built to endure.
