Hi, I just aquired a colour head for my Magnifax IV enlarger, at a photo swap (?), for a smile. I have used condenser so far. The head is halogen-lamp type (12V100w).
Anyone used it? Any tips or experience or what to avoid? Anything about halogene colour heads compared to cold lights (except the obvious heat <G>)? Any tips on the filtration with VC papers (I use Agfa fibre & RC papers mostly, sometimes ilford & kentmere but these are graded)? And finally, the head lacks the power source. I got the head for 13 Euros though! :). Any good tips on homebuilding a stabilised power source for 12V 100W ? I guess stabilisation IS useful in VC printing, or no? Can I build such a source from computer 300W or 250W powersource? It should have 11.8V up to 10-12A on some wires, no? Is it stabilised enough? These used computer power sources are the cheapest think I can get, for just 10 euros or so. Much cheaper than buying the original trafo. Thanks for help!
