back in the old days computers used to boot into DOS and a batch file which started Windows. If your old machine still works that way you could amend the batch file to skip Windows. Without a suitable old machine to hand I'm just going from memory, but you could also amend something like config.sys or startup.sys or .bat, I think, but unless you're absolutely sure of what you're doing it's best left alone.


I believe she said she has a Windows 98 machine. To open a DOS window you select - Start|Run and type "command" in the dialog box. Click OK or hit ENTER. The DOS window can be resized by dragging a corner or by clicking on the little DOS icon in the upper left of the toolbar and setting the properties.

Old news now -- but all I do is click on my msdos icon on the desktop :) then to get full screen, as Eric reminded me, its ALT ENTER.
