Well, per Jack's advice to do thoughtful shooting as life allows, I
was able to prowl around a joint birthday party for my two nieces
last weekend and I got this shot ...

K20D, smc P-DA* 55mm F1.4 SDM, 1/45th, f/1.7, ISO 800, handheld.
Both the party and the shot were personal high-points for me.

My niece Olivia, who I snapped blowing out her birthday candles above,
asked my opinion on what dSLR she should save up for. She's going to
be taking a photography course at high school in the fall semester,
and decided her P&S wouldn't do.
Completely unbiased, I of course suggested the K-x. :) Here's hoping
that she sees the wisdom of that choice when she's finally got her
money from her summer job in a couple of months' time.

Perfect moment, Bruce. Candle lighting must be hardwired into our brains
as attractive and intimate. And good lookin' genes must run in your family.

Derby, if we ever meet (and I hope we do), I am *so* buying you a drink! :)
