Something similar was done in the Detroit area last year, I believe. Caricatures of cars IIRC.

I've seen a similar happening in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan - with guess what ? Moose.

Over the years, I have seen 7 or 8 of these events, where people got
an animal and decorated it artistically as part of a community or
charity event. By far the most clever were the Bears in Bern -- the
variety and the humor were outstanding.

Chris,
I'm sure Knarf could arrange some nice Canada Geese to go along with
your Canadian cows.

Like Wikipedia says, Zurich had lions in '96,

It was a fun and a very public art celebration.

I regret to have to report that I have just discovered that the "concrete" cows that Bob and I saw over the weekend are, in fact, replicas made mainly of fibre glass. The original concrete ones were rotting and have been repaired and put inside in the shopping centre for safe keeping.

Incidentally, the original concrete ones were a gift from an artist in residence. The artist was Liz Leyh and she is - wait for it - Canadian.
