> CB> Hey Pentax brother, > CB> Don't get the "M" lenses! > CB> 'K' for best overall optical design, or 'A' for color & contrast > improvements. Even the SuperMultiCoated Tak 50/1.4 would be better than the > 'M' and would look nice on a KX!
I've owned and tried every version of the 50/1.4 except the Super-Takumar and the F, and I certainly don't think there's anything wrong with the M version. Most of the variations between the versions are well within the bounds of sample variation. It may be true that the M lens is not quite as sharp (or not made to standards that are quite as strict) as a really good Super-Multi-Coated Takumar or A lens, but it's very close and it's certainly no dog. I really like the M lens, personally--I kept it and the Super-Multi-Coated Takumar. The M lens has a lot going for it--the focusing feel, balance, and construction quality are very pleasing...better than the A, F, or FA. --Mike * * * "Photography is simple.
