Long story short - I had ordered a ball head from Hong Kong via eBay for use on my monopod. Communication problems and shipping delays meant that it didn't get here before my trip to Costa Rica. I bought this one as an alternative. I have since received the original which has a Arca-mount on the top, more suitable for my use. So this one goes . . .
Works fine, held the weight of a K20D + battery grip + DA* 50-135 without slipping. Standard female thread on the bottom to mate with monopod or tripod, standard 1/4 x 20 on the top to attach to your camera.
