Aaron, Not really. I'm sure the camera will sell better to macro photographers and astrophotographers and the like, who like the mirror lock-up in extreme situations. Don't forget, Michael tested the system in daylight with a short exposure. It may still be that the MLU offers a slight advantage in other conditions. At the very least, it is a reassurance to those who are used to using it. It was probably not too difficult to implement, either.
