This is a shot I took a few years ago with the K28/3.5 wide open on
the K10D. Although a web image isn't the best way to convey this kind
of message, I find the detail rendering amazing.

The SMC K28/3.5 lens is NOT the same formula as the excellent
SMC Takumar. Altough many of the early K mount lenses were
just re-mounts of earlier screwmount lenses, but in this
case excellent wasn’t good enough so Pentax put out a
brand new optical designed lens with 8 elements instead of the old 7
element

version. the K28/3.5 has truly outstanding contrast
and color saturaton as well as resolution....

       • SMC Pentax ( K ) 28mm F3.5 [One at $170 on eBay.]

Excellent lens, I'd hesitate to pay $170 for it though, you can get
the
optically identical SMC Takumar version for under $100 and a
screwmount
adapter for $20 and get more functionality on your DS (The
screwmount lenses
work in aperture priority mode)
