Spent a very ennjoyable day in Birmingham with Chris today, primarily to see the Steve McCurry exhibition. We also looked around the art gallery and museum, and had a stroll along the canalside.
The exhibition is incredibly depressing. What's the point of being a photographer when someone like McCurry is so damned good? A really good show that could have been twice as big. Most of his classics are there, although some of my personal favourites are missing. I would like to have seen this one: <http://www.magnumphotos.com/Archive/C.aspx?VP3=ViewBox_VPage&VBID=2K1HZOWEC 2NUM&IT=ZoomImage01_VForm&IID=2K7O3R3ITSD8&PN=24&CT=Search> <http://tinyurl.com/37s45vk> The museum is terrific. Quite small, but there's some seriously good stuff in there, including a Velazquez, Picasso, Braque, Vuillard and many more besides - well worth a visit. There are also some bits and pieces from the Staffordshire Horde, so fresh they're still caked in mud. The canal is full of Danes. Here are some snaps. The first is from Greenwich, but I thought I'd drop it in here anyway. <http://www.web-options.com/BAGAM/> Bob -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
