Not quite. -40 is where the two meet. -46C is -51F.
That is quite cold.

Shortly after taking delivery of my original LX and K1000, I
decided to go for a walk with them. Nothing unusual there, but
it was Christmas day, and it was -47C. I decided to go out and
see if I could freeze them up. I wandered about for almost three
hours, with the cameras hanging out in the cold the entire time.
The K1000 meter quit after about an hour, but the shutter kept
working for another half hour, though it was definitely sounding
slow at the end. Finally the shutter froze up completly.
The LX LED's conked out shortly after the k1000 meter crapped
out, but the auto exposure kept working. Finally the batteries
gave out at about an hour and three quarters, and the shutter
would only work at the higher speeds. I gave up at two and a
half hours and went home. The LX shutter never did freeze up.
