Thanks for sharing these, David. Are all these folks hobbyists, or are any of 
them actually farming, in whole or part, with horses?

I sense from these photos that the horses were participants in this event, in a 
sense similar to which the humans were. Most definitely not just mindless 
machines. They look proud, even haughty.

One of the most beautiful books I ever read, Adam's Task: Calling Animals by 
Name, about certain animals -- dogs, cats, horses, elephants, camels -- but not 
others -- monkeys, chimpanzees, apes -- as part of the human community. The 
author, Vicki Hearne, is an animal trainer and poet -- and married, or was at 
the time the book was published, to a photographer.
