So I spent a bunch of time last night bonding with my AF-360FGZ. Cool flash and a major step up from my AF-280T! Everyone's feedback yesterday helped me get in tune with the flash user interface. It's not as bad as I first thought, and the wireless capability is really cool!
Of course I have another question.... I'm really interested in using the AF-360FGZ as a daylight fill flash for landscape work (i.e., to emphasize foreground elements in the shade). One way to do this (I think) is to: 1) Set the aperture and exposure manually 2) Turn on the flash and dial in -1.5 exposure compensation 3) Take the picture Now, if I want to bracket, then it looks like I need to do the following (say, to underexpose by 1 stop): 1) Leave on-camera exposure compensation at 0 2) Set the aperture and exposure manually to underexpose by 1 stop 3) Turn on the flash and dial in -2.5 exposure compensation 4) Take the picture Could I also do the following? 1) Set on-camera exposure compensation to -1 2) Set the aperture and exposure manually 3) Turn on the flash and dial in -1.5 exposure compensation 4) Take the picture Or in Step 3), should I also dial in -2.5? Hmmmmm.... Ultimately, what I'd really like to do is put the system into some kind of "daylight fill" mode. This (possibly mythical) mode would allow me to dial in -1.5 stops exposure compensation into the flash, turn it on, and forget about it. I could then shoot in aperture-priority mode, with or without on-camera exposure compensation. If I dial in -1 compensation on-camera, the main exposure would be under by one stop and the flash would be under by -1-1.5 = -2.5 stops. If I dial in +1 compensation on-camera, the main exposure would be over by one stop and the flash would be +1-1.5 = -0.5 stops. Can any of the 360FGZ gurus out there help me out?
