I've never drunk Pabst so I don't know what it's like, but I've never heard
of the notion that blending improves beer quality. Indeed, I rather think
they're wrong in their coffee analogy too. Some good coffee is blended
(French blend espresso, for instance), but most is not.

I do like US beer advertising from that era though - it has  a certain
style. I have a 1960s tin tray somewhere which advertises Schlitz "The Beer
That Made Milwaukee Famous" - it's a great design, like pop art.
